I had been experiencing severe neck pain and numbness in my arm and fingers from all the strain of my large, heavy breasts. After meeting several months of appointments with my primary care physician and physical therapist, breast reduction surgery was the recommendation to improve my symptoms. My primary care physician referred me to a doctor in Honolulu. There were not many doctors who performed this operation in Maui, of course only implants!

I went to the consultation in Honolulu with the referred doctor. To say I was shocked by his prognosis, is an understatement. He didn’t care to listen to my concerns about the surgery or that I may potentially want to breast feed when I have kids. He made me feel like I was deformed. He actually talked about removing my nipples and tattooing them on. Needless to say I was out of there. It was obvious that he had his own agenda and it didn’t match mine.

After meeting Dr. Mirzai, I was impressed from the very start. He has a wonderful countenance and was very informative about my options. He explained the procedure in detail, the pros and the cons, and everything else in between. He agreed that my breasts were too heavy and felt like he could help me get back to a normal life, without me loosing my womanhood. Michelle, his assistant, was also wonderful. She followed up with me very quickly and made sure that I had everything that I needed regarding the insurance, surgery, prescriptions, appointment…etc. She’s definitely an asset!

The surgery was a huge success, no complications. He removed 2 ½ lbs from each breast and my neck pain and finger numbness are all gone. I didn’t loose my nipple sensations, and there is a strong possibility that I will be able to lactate, when the time comes. They definitely improved my quality of life.
